Detail: 1997 ford explorer overheating but no gurgling and cools back down when heater is turned on . not loosing any coolant. does not seem to do it at idle but as soon as you start moving it goes up and when it starts getting really hot you can turn the heat on and it goes back to around normal only slightly going up at lower speeds
Solution: Make sure the cooling fans are working when the engine reaches above normal temp,if they are not ,turn the ac on,and see if the cooling fans come on,if so,replace the coolant temp sensor,if it has a clutch fan, then replace it,for it is not staying engaged ,and is not turning fast enough to cool the radiator. , Hi, a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
