SOLVED: Renault Clio Series, 1.4 16valve - starting

Detail: My daughter has a Renault Clio Series, 1.4 16valve. One day the car would not start, the dash lights all worked and the electric windows worked but the engine would not turn over. We ended up towing it home. Once at home it started fine. I think if might have something to do with the remote or the immobilizer. The dash has a "Stop" indicator which keeps flashing and when this is on the car does not start. Sometimes this light is off and it stsrts fine. Can you please help? Thanks - Shane
Detail Question SOLVED: Renault Clio Series, 1.4 16valve - starting

Solution: Clio can get problems with the dispacks fitted to the spark plugs. i would check them. the stop is to say something is wrong, if it don't get a signal or a voltage drop when something is turned on it turns off ecu functions. my friend had this model and had the same fault, replaced them and the fault went away. usually get a misfire when they on way out, but sometimes they just die. , Hi, a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two. Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Mechanic (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck! , remove the bulb then it cant bother you ,if it drives alright leave well alone or it will cost you a new ECU unit so just ignore it or a bit of black tape over bulb or remove the bulb check transmission level with drive wheels chocked up ,handbrake on and engine running with reverse selected.and thats as much as you can do as this gearbox in common with all modern cars is all electric, and its a renault which means its encrypted software so no weekend mechanic tune up gizmo from the states will evan contemplate trying to read this properly ,just a load of mumbo jumbo .trust me its a renault , i know what these gizmo sellers promise about their wonder readers and such but on modern cars from 2007 they are useless as now all modern cars are encrypted and your famous renault started it.This is so that all work on a brand of cars can only be undertaken by the dealer and general garages can go and hang their overhauls up for good or turn their garages into car washes or a big mac outlet , Your immobilizer is enabled. Try locking/unlocking the doors with the remote five (5) times, this should remedy. , the battery says 12 volts but may be dropping to 4 or 5 under a load...i would suggest jumpstarting the car and see what happens.the battery should read in the high 12 volts and not less than 9.5 under cranking. the dash lights go out on your car when starting, and the alarm will go off ,and disable the ignition if the voltage is too low in cranking the car because the computer will shut it down and activate the anti theft.....check your battery posts are tight. best of luck , hi, this sounds like you have a bad earth at the rear lights, remove both rear light clusters and check for any signs of corrosion, give all connections a clean and a little tweek, this should cure your problem , my bm 1series came to a shudder a code came up p0012 got the actuator cam. from main dealer fixed still wont start
