SOLVED: I have a 2000 ford ranger, 6cyl, 5spd manual trans

Detail: I have a 2000 ford ranger, 6cyl, 5spd manual trans and the speedometer spins much too fast. I did disconnect the sensor in the rear to see if it would stop and it didn't, I assumed that would stop the odometer from working at all.. What do I do ???

Simple problem, major pain to fix but, remove instrument cluster - you'll have to remove speedo cable to get it out. Use the old Mark I eyeball to check for broken parts. Might even have to drop steering column - disconnect air bag first! , The problem is going to be a worn or broken odometer gear.
