Detail: I have a 2008 grand prix with 3.8 in it, it wont stall if i keep my foot on the gas or driving down the road. but stopping at a stop sign or sitting there idleing my car will stall. also it chuggs randomly and makes my RPM gauge jump... I Changed the MAP sensor, and put a can of seafoam cleaner in it and its still running rough. any ideas?
Solution: Unfortunately, you might have to replace every sensor until the problem goes away. It is a matter of process by elimination. I am in the same position. Goodluck! , it almost sounds like a fouled fuel injector. this is a tricky problem because it involve so many different operations. the maf is used to deliver fuel and the o2 sensor tells how much. there are 2 o2 sensors one before cat 1 after. mabey check these out visually. the computer should pick these sensors up if there bad. is this a supercharged engine? ill try to come up with some other ideas for you soon. , sound like vacuum leak or fuel pump problems.scan it to see if egr valve sticking open. , has to be corroded fuel pump resistor behind passenger head light under hood but Im sure by now you have done the research and found that out already 97 gtps had recalls because its in an easy spot to get corroded can buy a new kit for 40 bucks or so through gm or online , fuel filter most likely , yes he is correct also check for any vacum leaks into the intake this will cause the o2 sensors to tell the obc (computer) to compensate for the extra air entering the system and cause the engine to lean the fuel out that will cause a obd2 code saying the o2 sensor needs to be replaced when it is only a vacum leak
