SOLVED: Burning rubber and ets/check engine lights on

Detail: I started my car and let run for about 15 min. as usual this morning (live in Buffalo, NY). I got in and there was a ditinct burt rubber/plastic smell. ETS and check engine lights both came on when I switched the cars around in the driveway. Afraid to drive it....can someone please shed some light!
