Detail: My o2 renault scenic deisel lost drive without warning. The RAC man who towed me home thought it could be a pin that attatches the driveshaft to the gearbox that may have come off. Apparently this is a common fault. This however doesn't seem to be the problem with mine. Any ideas?
Solution: Run the fault codes if it is an automatic ( missing detail) the it may be the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid that has failed could be a loose wire , Hi, a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two. Goodluck! , check hoses for splits...i had the same problem. , Change the Transmision oil , There is lots of people out there that think the problem is to do with a pressure switch. In a way they are right. As the transmission fluid gets old it's viscosity and properties change. It gets grippier and allows for fluctuations in the pressure in the gearbox. The best thing to do before sending it to an automatic transmission specialist would be to give it an oil change it needs 3.5 litres of Type-D transmission fluid. Do not use anything else contary to what you might hear will work. I had the same problem in mine where I could neither put my foot down or remove it from the accellerator pedal without the gearbox going into limp mode. After the oil change the gearbox has been perfect. the oil only cost $34AUD for 5 litres. Drain all the oil and place 3.5 litres in the gear box. There is a plug with a square hole that is the filler plug on top of the gear box. On the bottom of the gearbox there is a filler plug and if you look closely there is a hex head behind that. To drain the gearbox you must undo the outer hex head which is the drain plug/fluid level tube. Regards Raph
